Whisky rocks are popular among drinkers for the main reason that they cool your drink without ruining its' integrity.
“Soapstone (also known as steatite, or soaprock) is […] a type of metamorphic rock. It is largely composed of the mineral talc and is thus rich in magnesium. It is produced by dynamothermal metamorphism and metasomatism, which occurs in the areas where tectonic plates are subducted, changing rocks by heat and pressure, with influx of fluids, but without melting.” [source]
Whiskey rocks – REVIEW
If you are not manly enough to drink your whiskey neat, chances are you would favor whiskey stones over ice: as the ice melts and dilutes the flavor, which could be disastrous, especially when you are drinking expensive whiskey.
The whisky rocks on Amazon are sold around $12-20 USD for a set of 9; on AliExpress you can find the same rocks for just around $5.
The seller I bought them from has 5 color options – I have chosen the mixed color and forgot to write which ones I wanted, so the seller has sent 3 of each. The set of 9 rocks will cost you $4.95.
I do not know how long they are going to be good for once you put them in your drink, but 3 stones took about 5 minutes to chill my drink to the desired temperature, and they kept my recurring drinks cool for at least 1 hour.
Whisky rocks I bought came with a soft black velour bag, which looks very classy. This set would make an nice gift for your parents or a business partner – they are inexpensive, yet tasteful and classy.
